Strong and Unique Passwords

Strategies for Creating Strong and Unique Passwords

Protect our online accounts and personal information become very important now. One fundamental aspect of online security is creating strong password patterns. Creating a strong password pattern involves developing a unique structure that is not easily predictable or guessable. The following are some guidelines to build a strong password pattern:

Avoid predictable patterns

Steer clear of common patterns like sequential numbers (e.g., 123456), repeated characters (e.g., 111111), or keyboard patterns (e.g., qwerty). Hackers can easily crack passwords with such patterns.

Mix different character types

Use a combination of uppercase, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Incorporating these different character types adds complexity to your password pattern.

Consider a passphrase

Use a passphrase instead of a short password. Passphrase is easy to remember, but hard to guess for everyone else.  The best way to create a passphrase is to combine multiple words into a phrase. For example, "MyBananaCity007!".

Length matters

Aim for a longer password pattern. The more characters within your password, the harder it is to crack. Use a minimum of 12 characters, but longer is even better.

Unique passwords for each app:

It is highly recommended to have a unique password for each application or online account you use. If one account is compromised, having different passwords ensures that your other accounts remain secure and prevents unauthorized access to your other accounts. Using a password manager can simplify this process by creating and securely storing unique passwords for every application.

Regularly update your passwords:

Change your passwords periodically, especially if there has been a security breach or you suspect unauthorized access. Update your passwords every 3-6 months as a general rule.

By following these guidelines, you can create strong and secure password patterns that enhance the protection of your accounts and personal information. Remember to prioritize your online security and take proactive steps to create and manage strong password patterns across all your applications.
