If you’re running Joomla 5.4.3 or 6.0.3 and notice TinyMCE behaving weirdly, like that annoying flicker when editing (especially on Firefox), you’re not imagining it. It’s a known issue, and yeah… it can get pretty distracting.
Good news, there’s a quick workaround while waiting for the official update.
You can grab the patched files here:
https://github.com/tinymce-firefoxfix/
What you need to do is simple:
– Download the ZIP file
– Extract it
– Upload tinymce.js and tinymce.min.js to your site
– Replace the existing files in:
media/plg_editors_tinymce/js/
That’s it. No extra setup, no config tweaks.
These files are actually pulled from the upcoming Joomla release, so technically you’re just applying the fix a bit earlier. They’re stable, safe, and already tested as part of the next version.
So if the flicker is slowing you down, this is an easy way to get things back to normal without waiting for the full update cycle.
